Lantern Lines

Lantern Lines is the heart of the house. We carry round paper lanterns in crimson and cream, in sizes from the small street lantern to the tall entrance round, and we match each order by count, by size and by hanging length so a shop receives exactly what its rack can hold. The shells come from the workshop rows near our stall rooms, and our own hands finish the ribs, press the seams and set the paste so that the paper keeps its glow through the whole season. A retailer may ask for a single crate of one size or a mixed shelf of several, and the hangers are strung so that a lantern can be lifted from the crate and hung without unwrapping the whole run. Because the shells ship folded, a full shelf takes very little space on the road and opens in one breath at the door.

A pack is counted twice before it leaves the stall rooms, once when the lines are drawn from the rack and once when the lid is closed, so the shop finds nothing missing on the busy morning it opens.

We open a share of each batch on the paste table, press the seams by hand, check the knots on the tassels and confirm that no rib shows through where the paper should be whole. Lanterns are tested for balance so they hang straight, and banners are unrolled to look for print faults before they are rolled again. Streamers are pulled to confirm that the loops hold. Anything that fails is set aside and never enters the crate. A short note of what was checked travels with the load, and if a retailer ever finds a fault we trace it back to the batch and the run. This work is quiet, but it is the reason our returns stay low and a shop can trust a shelf it has not opened yet.

Wholesale Delivery carries the goods from the stall rooms to county retailers across Shaanxi and the wider region. Packed crates travel flat and light, and we plan each load so that a small order rides with a larger one, which keeps the freight fair for shops that cannot fill a truck alone. Routes are set in advance around the festival calendar, and a retailer is told the expected week so the shelf can be cleared in time. On arrival the crate is checked against the same count that left the stall rooms, and the flat packs are lifted straight to the rack. For retailers well outside the main routes we arrange onward carriage and keep the same packing standard, so distance changes the schedule but never the care.

Retail Account Care keeps a named trader with every account. That trader learns which lines sell on which street, notes the sizes that move first, and calls before the season rather than after it. How a line moves through the stall rooms

Every order begins at the counter, where the trader writes the lines, the counts and the doorway. Drying is paced by the air rather than by a clock, so a damp week simply moves the whole run later. When the paper holds its glow the piece is counted, checked and folded into the delivery crate. The lid is closed only after the count agrees with the counter note.

The crate then travels on a planned route, riding with other orders to keep the freight fair. On arrival the retailer checks the count against the note and lifts the flat packs to the rack, where they open in one breath. Any question is answered by the named trader who packed the load.

After the season we gather what sold and what stayed folded, and that note shapes the next year. Nothing is carried forward blindly; each line is rebuilt around the shop it serves and around the season that is coming.
